Since 2007 the Abbey Sutton Courtenay has been home to some of the finest classical music concerts to be heard anywhere. From up-and-coming young professionals to established stars, top quality musicians from Britain and around the world come to the Abbey to enjoy its unique and inspiring ambience and to share their art with the local community. These superb artists perform without receiving a fee, and thus the Abbey is able to offer world class concerts on a non-profit basis. If you are unable to afford the suggested donation we invite you to attend and give what you can.
Concerts take place in the Abbey’s beautiful Great Hall which was built c. 1290. The timber framed and panelled room provides an excellent, warm acoustic. Artists and audiences alike have found it to be an ideal setting for chamber music as it was meant to be experienced, in intimate and genial surroundings.
In addition to great classical chamber music and piano recitals, we occasionally host young stars of the world and folk music scenes as well as poets, dancers, painters and film-makers.
