Individual and Social Bubble Retreats
Our founders felt passionately that this small and private sanctuary should provide a space where individuals and groups can come to stop and think; a place to rest the body and renew the soul.
The Abbey has offered monthly Rest & Renewal Retreats for many years. Sadly, due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic we are currently unable to welcome mixed groups of retreatants from separate households; however, by following strict government guidelines, we are able to invite individual retreatants to enjoy the north wing of the The Abbey’s main building, and can accommodate social bubbles, for a shared retreat experience, within our Guest House facilities.
In addition to treatments such as massage and reiki; for groups seeking a shared experience, The Abbey has connected with local practitioners in yoga, creative writing, and natural bread making. These optional activities must be booked in advance for an additional fee, see below for details.
Retreats are now available throughout the month, both mid-week and during weekends.
For inquiries or bookings please email firstname.lastname@example.org
For those seeking a quiet fully catered retreat, The Abbey can offer Lodestar, a bedroom in the oldest part of the building, with en-suite facilities and private access to The Solar sitting room, The Branch Therapy Room and The Library.
Vegetarian meals are prepared daily.
The Abbey offers retreatants the opportunity to meet with retired Anglican priest David Barton. David’s main area of work was in education as a teacher, headteacher and education adviser with a specialism in young children’s religious education. For many years he has been interested in both the Christian contemplative tradition and that of Zen Buddhism. He is still active as a priest and as a spiritual director. This service is offered free of charge.
Socially Distanced Gathering
Connect with members of The Abbey community around a fire, either outdoors or within one of The Abbey’s large sitting rooms, or Great Hall. This opportunity is also free of charge.
