Our experience in the Abbey
Work as a volunteer is new for us but is something that without doubt we recommend. To live close to you this six weeks gave us the opportunity to meet different people with different backgrounds. At the beginning in the Abbey, we looked for a place to live and improve our English, and now at the end we realize that we received much more: kindness, friendship, laughs, comprehension, respect and of course love. The Abbey is an amazing place full of peace and quietness where while you connect with the nature you can also connect with other people and with yourself. Thanks for such a pleasant stay.
Itziar and Rubén, volunteers from Spain
Throughout the year, volunteers from all over the world are welcomed to join in the work and life of the Abbey. Men and women of all ages and backgrounds come here to work, play, make new friends and enjoy the beauty and tranquility of this unique place. We offer comfortable accommodation, good food and a friendly welcome. In return we ask that volunteers respect our values and be willing to help. A helpful attitude is more important than particular skills or abilities, though we welcome initiative and do try to employ volunteers where they are happiest. Most find it to be a very rewarding experience. Many of our volunteers come through the WWOOF UK or HelpX networks but individual arrangements can be made by contacting us directly. If you are not a member of either organisation we request that you furnish two references with any application to volunteer at the Abbey. We accept residential volunteers for stays of 2-6 weeks in the first instance. We also welcome local people who are able to offer help on a regular, non-residential basis. To learn more about volunteering at the Abbey, email Dylan Hayden. Please do not visit the Abbey without making an appointment.
